The Process
Great design is more than creating beautiful spaces—it shapes the way we live, work, and connect. Thoughtful design has the power to transform everyday environments into places that inspire creativity, foster comfort, and improve well-being. It tells a story, reflects the people who inhabit it, and seamlessly balances form with function. Whether it's a home that brings families together, a workplace that encourages collaboration, or a hospitality space that creates memorable experiences, exceptional design leaves a lasting impression. At its core, great design is about understanding how people live and crafting spaces that not only meet their needs but elevate their everyday lives.
How We Work!
Client Consultation
We prefer to meet in the actual environment(s) you’re interested in modifying so we can review all the decision markers together; meetings can be in person or conducted virtually for convenience. We’ll explore your aesthetic preferences, identify meaningful furnishings and features to be incorporated into the design, clarify any project time frame, and discuss your investment range. This initial meeting is a working appointment and may last up to two hours, during which we freely share knowledge, practical suggestions, and helpful insights. Our aim is for you to leave feeling inspired, with a clear sense of direction and an understanding of how we can move forward together. This first, valuable consultation consistently saves time, money, and prevents avoidable mistakes — it’s the essential starting point for all successful design.
Site Planning:
With the information gathered so far, a contract and a detailed design estimate for the proposed scope of work will be prepared and sent. Once the documents are signed and returned, we will schedule an onsite visit to take precise measurements and meet with our trusted vendors and/or tradespeople, who may need to assess the space in order to provide estimates for their portion of the project.
Preliminary Design:
Having gathered as much information about your project as possible, this is the stage where the design truly comes together. We research thoroughly, develop thoughtful space plans, source materials and furniture, and draw detailed floor plans. Where appropriate we produce 3D renderings, and we craft cohesive color schemes and carefully considered mood boards to guide the final look and feel.
Design Presentation(S):
This is when we present and walk you through the proposed design for your new space. We meet (in person or virtually) to review each element in detail and explain how it will function within the room. During this meeting we also go over the projected investment for the project and note any adjustments that may be needed before moving forward. This is also where we discuss if and what changes could be made for the new round of revisions.
Purchasing Products:
If we have been working together virtually, this is where you receive a clear road map outlining how to implement the design and where to purchase the specific items we’ve selected. If we have established a more comprehensive design approach, our team manages the entire ordering process on your behalf. Purchase orders are created, reviewed, and then double-checked to ensure selections are accurate. We monitor every order from placement through fulfillment, and if any issues arise with a product, our studio handles all follow-up and resolution.
Coordinating & Site Visits:
We remain in ongoing communication with all parties involved in the design implementation (when included in the contract). We oversee and coordinate the many details throughout the construction and/or installation phases. Additionally, we conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and verify that the quality of workmanship meets our standards.
Installations & Styling
This is the day the furniture is positioned according to the plan and cherished, sentimental pieces are thoughtfully and meaningfully displayed.
Project Reveal & Final Walk Through
We schedule a time to walk through the spaces and present the newly designed environments, showing you how the initial concepts have been brought to life. This walkthrough also gives us an opportunity to note any remaining items that need to be addressed.
Professional Photography:
A photo is more than something tangible; it’s a way to freeze a moment in time. We love photographing our clients’ spaces once they are completed so we can showcase them on our website and social media.
